1. Why do I recommend you upload directly instead of selecting from a Google photo album?

You can try to buy image storage space. Although Blogger has no storage limit, I suggest you purchase some services for better management.
In this way, at least in terms of management, images and blog text content are separated.
Of course, I think Google should also be brilliant. If you want to back up your blog content, it is estimated that you can also back up the image content together. But if you don't want to use Blogger someday, it may be better to use this separate storage structure first.

Tips for additional attention:
When you own Chromebook and Google Pixel.
Don't open the automatic upload of images on Chromebook.
Since you have used Chromebook as a computer, many pictures may be stored on it. If they are synchronized, the cloud space may be insufficient, and most importantly, it is unnecessary.
I think it's just that the photos on the pixel phone need to be synchronized. When you need to use it, just download it from the Internet to your Chromebook.
